Package Details: gimp-plugin-saveforweb 0.29.3-3

In this GIMP tutorial, I show you how to save or export your photos and graphic design compositions using the best settings and file types for the web. I explain why each file type is best based on the type of file you are saving, and how having the right file type can speed up the performance of your website (if uploading to the website). Save for Web Gimp Plugin. August 20, 2008. Save for Web Gimp Plugin allows to find compromise between minimal file size and acceptable quality of image quickly. Version: 0.28.6. Operating System: Linux. Homepage: registry.gimp.org. Developed by: Aurimas Juka, Michael Natterer and Kevin Turner. Save for Web Gimp Plugin allows to. This means that in the future there will be an interface within GIMP to browse and manage the same types of assets you used to find on the registry (plugins, scripts, brushes, etc.). Hopefully we'll also have similar functionality to Firefox Add-ons to allow ratings, uploads, and more (both in a web-based interface and from within GIMP ).

Compiling it with gimp works without problem, maybe the problem is gimp-git.

On the other hand, try to install https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/gimp-plugin-registry, it does not give problems and you have a package of plugins including one that also serves to save for the web.

Is anyone able to compile this against gimp-git / 2.99.

I get the error below when trying makepkg -s

checking pkg-config is at least version 0.9.0.. yes Torrent official website.

checking for GIMP.. no

configure: error: Package requirements (gimp-2.0 >= 2.3.0 gimpui-2.0 >= 2.3.0) were not met:

Package 'gimp-2.0', required by 'virtual:world', not found

Package 'gimpui-2.0', required by 'virtual:world', not found

Consider adjusting the PKG_CONFIG_PATH environment variable if you

installed software in a non-standard prefix.

Alternatively, you may set the environment variables GIMP_CFLAGS

and GIMP_LIBS to avoid the need to call pkg-config.

See the pkg-config man page for more details.

Gimp 2.8 Plugin Save For Web

I have rescued a copy that I had for a disk of the gimp-save-for-web-0.29.3.tar.bz2 file and I have reviewed the PKGBUILD. Test if it works, otherwise if you have problems with the current version of gimp I will abandon its maintenance.

noalwin commented on 2018-07-31 22:32

whendy, you can install it from the GIMP plugin browser. Tough the version listed in the browser is 0.25, while this was 0.29. The gimp plugin page listed compatibility up to gimp 2.7, but now we are on 2.10.. so this may be incompatible? Anyway, you can still obtain 0.29 from github

Since gimp has a embedded plugin browser, and registry.gimp.org no longer works, I guess that this package doesn't make sense now.

Marcel_K, and I corrected the PKGBUILD, right now, thanks to your contribution.

Moreover, $srcdir and $pkgdir should be quoted to allow spaces in directory names and || return 1 isn't necessary anymore.

In my previous blog post, I have discussed the importance of saving images for the web in a way that they will have the smallest file size possible so that uploading them, opening the site and downloading the image will be as fast as we want. I have also mentioned that Adobe PhotoShop, a proprietary image editing software, has 'Save for Web' feature by default. The free and open source GIMP (GNU Image Manipulation Program) which functions the same as Adobe PhotoShop does not have the 'save for web' but you can easily add the plugin for such feature.

Adding the 'Save for Web' plugin to GIMP installed on Windows is the topic of this article. I hope that this blog will be useful to some co-bloggers who do not know about it. Likewise, I suggest to Internet café owners to have the software on their servers so that they could save the images correctly for their customers who would upload them to their social networking accounts.

If you do not yet have GIMP installed in your Windows computer, you can download the installer at http://www.gimp.org/windows/. After installing, launch GIMP and open a JPG, PNG or BMP image file. Click 'File' and you will see that there is no 'Save for Web' in the Save As options. The following are what you should do to install on Windows GIMP the 'Save for Web' feature that you need in order to save images with very small file size:

Gimp Save For Web Plugin Mac

  • Download the 'Save for Web' plugin from http://registry.gimp.org/files/save_for_web_0.28.6_win32.zip
  • Transfer 'Save for Web' plugin on the desktop and then extract and you will see this.
  • Copy ‘webexport.exe' file to your personal plug-ins folder which in my case can be found at C:Documents and Settingsecz.gimp-2.6plug-ins.

Download Gimp Save For Web Plugin For Windows

After installing the 'Save for Web' plugin on your Windows GIMP, the ‘File – Save As' option in your program should now look like this:

There you have it, you now have GIMP image editing software with 'Save for Web' feature. In my future blogs, I will discuss how, as a dummy user, do I prepare the images I upload to this blog using this software. Watch for it!
